In today’s episode, we share a conversation with Louise about her 2-year-old son Freddie. On September 26, 2016, just two days after his first birthday, the family learned of their son’s diagnosis of Leigh syndrome. Louise and her husband James connected with the Lily Foundation (@thelilyfoundation) to gain support from local families who were battling a similar diagnosis.
The couple also visited a local hospice so that Freddie could receive hydrotherapy and use a sensory room. Louise describes Freddie as the happiest 2-year-old she knows because he doesn’t have tantrums and he’s always smiling. He also absolutely loves books.
Toward the end of the interview, Louise shares advice for parents learning of a challenging diagnosis: Make the most of the good days and laugh as much as you can during those times, because then you’ll be able to handle the bad days.
